Abbotsford — On Saturday, December 1, at 2:30 pm two men attended a pharmacy in the 2000 block of McCallum Road. They waited outside until the store was empty of customers before entering. One of the suspects approached the cashier demanding drugs and cash while the second man stood just inside the front door. Both men wore dark clothing with hoodies and had their faces covered. No weapons were produced and fortunately no staff members were injured. The suspects fled southbound on McCallum Road.
On Wednesday, December 5, at 10:00 pm three men attended a pizza shop in the 33300 block of South Fraser Way. All of the men wore dark clothing and had their faces covered. As with the robbery on Saturday, the suspects waited until the store contained only staff before entering. Two of the suspects approached the cashier with one brandishing what appeared to be a handgun. The pair demanded cash while the third suspect kept watch by the front door. All three suspects fled and although very shaken the store employee was not physically harmed.
Given the similarities in the descriptions of the suspects, the nature of the incidents and the proximity in time and location, the robberies may be connected.
