Abbotsford man charged in June 2017 hit and run involving five men in Delta

AN Abbotsford man is facing multiple charges after an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of June 11, 2017, in Ladner, Delta.

A man was alleged to have intentionally driven his vehicle into a group of pedestrians in the 5300-block of 48A Avenue, hitting five males and causing serious injury to two of them, and minor injuries to the remaining three men. The driver apparently then fled the scene without stopping.

Police investigation revealed that the driver was believed to have been in a physical altercation at a nearby pub with some or all of the males who were later struck by the vehicle.

“Police resources from patrol, major crime, and forensics, as well as a traffic collision analyst dealt with multiple scenes and many witnesses and victims while investigating this incident,” said Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta Police.

All five victims from the incident are expected to make a full recovery.

A warrant was issued for Patrick John Scott McIntyre, 20, of Abbotsford in April. He was arrested on April 14 in Langley, and is now facing three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, five counts of assault with a weapon, and five counts of fail to remain at the scene of an accident.

McIntyre has been released from custody and is next due in court in Surrey on June 12 at 9 a.m.
