“WILL there be a shooting somewhere in Surrey when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits on Thursday?” – That was The VOICE’s story online on Monday and it seems that may actually happen as Surrey saw yet another shooting at 1 a.m. on Wednesday – just a day before Modi visits Surrey’s Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple!

Surrey RCMP received several calls from witnesses who heard gunshots in the area of 128th Street and 66th Avenue. Some witnesses observed occupants of a red pickup and a grey SUV shooting at each other while driving westbound on 66th Avenue at 128th Street.

Police recovered shell casings and a number of pieces of evidence from the scene.

Police are speaking with the witnesses in the area and canvassing the neighbourhood for surveillance videos. Police inquired from area hospitals about anyone attending with gunshot wounds, but there was no indication that anyone had been injured in the shooting.

Surrey RCMP say that the shooting appears to be along the lines of previous such incidents, although they cannot say if it’s linked to them.
