‘TRINJAN, THE PUNJABI FOLK’ MAKES DREAMS COME TRUE AT DELTA HOSPITAL

For over 90 residents of the Extended Care Unit at Delta Hospital, recreation time plays a very important part of their day-to-day activities. With so many of the hospital’s residents having an agricultural background, it is a dream of the ECU Manager, Annette Garm, to provide “a wheelchair accessible greenhouse where our residents can start vegetables and then eventually harvest them and enjoy the fresh produce for dinner!” Plus, they can actively participate in gardening activities year-round by having a functional greenhouse, which will aid with the grind of daily hospital life.

With the funds raised from the 4th annual Festival of Mothers and Daughters, Trinjan, The Punjabi Folk donated $17,609.51 to make the dream come true.

“It’s a fabulous gift to the hospital. It helps our patients in ECU and all of the people affiliated with the day-to-day activities of the hospital. We’re grateful for all of the hard work done by Trinjan and all their volunteers,” said Teresa Cooper, the Executive Director of the Delta Hospital Foundation.

Amy Ghuman Sara, founder of Trinjan, said the donation would not have been possible without the efforts of the South Asian community and the numerous Lower Mainland businesses who helped make it a reality.
