With a plethora of awards already under his belt, Dr. Arun Garg was honoured this month by Fraser Health by an award for outstanding achievement in its Above and Beyond recognition program.
The citation for Dr. Garg, Medical Director, Laboratory Services, Royal Columbian Hospital, read: “Dr. Garg holds many academic achievements and has made a life time commitment to higher learning and personal improvement. Dr. Garg is a person who strives for excellence, but not for himself alone, it is for the benefit of the people he works with, the communities he serves and for his family. Importantly to those working with him, he empowers them to excel in their area of interest and to work together as a cohesive team.
“He has focused on the medical needs of the Fraser Health community that he serves and he also extends himself to chair or participate on committees for physician groups, for learning institutions and for government groups. Dr. Garg seems to have a sense of where help is needed most and rises to that challenge. He builds relationships; this has been noted with his focus on the BCIT Medical Laboratory Technology program and his work with the BC Medical Association and government offices.
“Recently, Dr. Garg was appointed as chair of the India Marketing Advisory Group under the Asia Pacific Trade Council as an advisory committee to the Premier of British Columbia. He has also been serving as the first chairperson of the region wide Medical Advisory Committee of Fraser Health since 2004.
“Dr. Arun Garg is a man of passion for what he does and he is always appreciative of the support he receives in return so he may carry out his objectives. He is visionary and creative, supportive and caring.”
