STRONG INDO-CANADIAN PRESENCE AT DINNER EVENT FOR FORMER U.S. SECRETARY OF STATE COLIN POWELL

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell attended a private dinner event last week at La Terrazza, owned by businessman Iqbal Grewal, in Vancouver where there was a very strong Indo-Canadian presence.

The dinner was held after the Powell’s speech at the Trade and Convention Centre to meet with various industry leaders so he could create stronger links to India with his new Vancouver connections as well.

The event was organized by businessman David Sidoo and political advisor Barinder Sall. Sidoo has just partnered with famous chef Daniel Boulud and is opening a new restaurant DB Moderne in October.

Famous music producer Quincy Jones flew up just for the event as he is a very close friend of Powell. Jones is also a good friend of Sidoo and billionaire Dennis Washington.

Indo-Canadians at the exclusive event included Attorney General Wally Oppal, Deputy Speaker Sindi Hawkins, businessman Jagmohan Singh, businessman Gary Brar, developer Gurdev Sandhu, Colliers Vice President Kelly Heed, Microsoft Canada Director Parminder Singh, businessman Sonny Khurana, Newton-North Delta MP Sukh Dhaliwal.

The bigwigs included shipping mogul Dennis Washington, casino boss Ross McLeod, Chairman of Rogers Communications Phil Lind, Lululemon clothing founder Chip Wilson, music record producer Quincy Jones, Bosa developmnent CEO Nat Bosa, Bob Rennie, Jim Pattison, White Spot owner Ron Toigo, Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu, Surrey RCMP Chief Superintendent Fraser MacRae and Vancouver Councillor and mayoral hopeful Peter Ladner.
