At New Westminster Secondary School the Voices of India Club recently took the initiative to educate the school community about the history of Indo-Canadians in British Columbia. This project is important as it portrays a history which has been so conveniently left out of social studies textbooks.

Last month, Judge Elizabeth Bennett ruled one hidden document is so fundamentally important to the case it could affect the "innocence at stake" principle. That means the verdict could hinge on that one document alone. Yet it took the government almost three years to reveal the document to Judge Bennett. And the Campbell government still hasn't revealed it to the defence.

After previously being issued driver's licenses that were "Not Valid for Identification," Salwinder S. Atwal, Kundan Singh and Gurpreet Singh of Washington state will be receiving driver's licenses that are valid for identification including pictures with their turbans as they are normally worn.

Last week, after a long struggle that went on for years, my constituent Shajila Singh was finally freed of an unfair $50,000 debt resulting from an absurd Campbell government policy that punishes victims of domestic abuse. I'm hopeful Singh's story will serve as a wake-up call for the B.C. Liberals, and they'll decide to act for others that have been neglected by the system.
