Forum Part II on Domestic Violence
On October 4 at Langara College, the Department of Sociology will be hosting part two of the forum on domestic violence titled: "Domestic Violence, Intergenerational Issues, Double Lives, Testimonies & Solutions: Women and Men in the South Asian community." Come participate in the dialogue and hear the voices of youth, professionals and past victims of violence for knowledge translation and solutions. Moderated by CBC TV News Anchor Ian Hanomansing. Annual SuperWalk for Parkinson's
On Sunday, September 9, at Ceperley Playground in Stanley Park, Vancouver, and Bear Creek Park in Surrey, individuals with Parkinson's disease, their friends and their families will walk in SuperWalk for Parkinson's. Thousands of participants will walk, run, jog and stroll to do their part in this national fundraising event to help the nearly 100,000 Canadians - 7,000 British Columbians - who suffer from Parkinson's disease. Looking for volunteer support workers. An information session will be held at Richmond City Hall located at 6911 No. 3 Road, on Tuesday, September 11 at 7 p.m. Victim Support Workers have a very important role with the RCMP as they offer support and assistance to victims of crime, or individuals experiencing a traumatic event. This is an opportunity to acquire unique knowledge and experience. Committed volunteers make a difference by utilizing their talents and abilities to inspire hope and purpose in others. This position is open to Richmond residents, 19 years or older who have a valid drivers license, and who are able to obtain an RCMP security clearance.
