For the last few years I have heard about the stories of Indo-Canadian players and coaches in Surrey feeling discomfort and the perception of unfair treatment and perceived power dynamics within the Surrey Soccer Association (SSA) which sadly have robbed some kids of experiencing the true spirit of soccer. Recently, I received numerous calls and correspondence about this issue from various coaches which clearly support some of the concerns, and I was asked by some to give voice to this issue.

At a round table discussion with Vancouver's South Asian media last week, NDP leader Jack Layton directly addressed key issues facing new migrants. Attending the round table with Mr. Layton were NDP MPs Penny Priddy, Peter Julian and Bill Siksay. Answering pointed question from the South Asian media and community organization representatives, Layton said it was high time the existing Government took seriously the concerns facing both new migrants and those immigrants who had arrived in Canada to face problems finding jobs in their occupations.

Sukvinder Panghali (27) who was also arrested had been living with couple and previously been charged with criminal harassment of an ex-girlfriend. Sukhvinder was charged with assault causing bodily harm, attempting to escape, assaulting a police officer and obstruction of justice. Both men have also been charged with improperly or indecently interfering with a dead body.

Ripudaman Singh Malik one of the two men accused and acquitted of blowing up an Air India plane is suing the B.C. and federal governments for malicious prosecution. Ripudaman Singh Malik recently filed documents in B.C. Supreme Court arguing the charges smeared his reputation and caused him financial losses. The writ of summons includes only a two-paragraph summary of Malik's complaints against both governments.

Woolmer's death prompted much speculation among followers of cricket, a sport that breaks for tea and makes baseball seem fast-paced. The average price of a residential home rocketed to a record high of $311,101 in February, and economists expect Canada's sizzling housing market will continue to defy the deep slump unfolding south of the border. In a report by Roma Luciw in the Globe and Mail, Douglas Porter, deputy chief economist at BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc., said the latest numbers drive home just how much the Canadian housing situation has diverged from that in the United States. "If you look at some of the bigger centres, there is no indication that the market is getting ahead of itself," he said. "What we are seeing is a well-balanced, healthy market."
