Last Saturday I received a phone call from Mr. Jaswinder Singh Toor about the funeral of his father Attar Singh Toor, son-in-law of Baba Puran Singh (Janet Tura) who was one of the passengers on board the boat Komagata Maru, which arrived in Vancouver on May 23, 1914.

A local mainstream newpaper reported this week that the Liberal government was looking at removing what The VOICE back in 2001 described as "insulting and obscene murals depicting native Indians in a horribly subservient manner" so as to win the goodwill the government needs to ensure that native Indians (or aboriginals) vote in favour of three land claim settlements in the coming months.
