CROWN APPEALS JUDGE'S DECISION IN BAINS-THANDI CASE
The Crown filed an appeal on Friday against last month's judgment handed down by B.C. Supreme Court Justice William Grist in the second-degree murder of Shingara Singh Thandi, 76, and the severe assault of Mewa Singh Bains, 84, against a 13-year-old male and a 15-year-old male in a washroom of Surrey's Bear Creek Park on July 19 and July 18, 2005, respectively.

Victoria cop Rob Dosanjh gets three-month conditional sentence
Provincial Court Judge Carol Baird Ellan handed down the sentence last week. Dosanjh will also have to perform 50 hours of community service and pay a fine of $100. He's under house arrest from midnight to 5 a.m.

Pakistan cricket team can't bat away controversy
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Appeals Tribunal has exonerated Shoaib "The Rawalpindi Express" Akthar and Mohammed Asif. The two players were handed one- and two-year bans by the PCB on November 1 for testing positive for the banned steroid Nandrolone in October during an internal doping test.
