Indo-Canadian gangs turn to extortion as it gets harder to make money from drugs
The Surrey RCMP's news release on Tuesday that over the past year they have seen an increase in kidnapping, extortion and forcible investigations didn't come as a surprise to some in the community who told The VOICE that Indo-Canadian gangsters, finding it increasingly hard to make money from dealing in illegal drugs, were apparently concentrating more on extortion.

This was a great honour for both these youngsters and their Surrey club. Makhan Sandhu and Harnek Sanghera were the coaches. Sandhu said that our weightlifters had very tough competition from the U.S. and Mexico. He said everybody was very impressed with the performance of the Canadians.

For cashier Gurpreet Minhas, honesty is the best policy
The grateful customer who contacted The VOICE and insisted on anonymity told me that he had gone to Mega Fruiticana at 121A and 80th in Surrey to buy groceries with his mother-in-law on Monday evening. The bill came to $50.35 and the customer took out a hundred dollar bill from a bank envelope that contained $1,300 in $100 bills that he had withdrawn from the bank earlier in the day. His mother-in-law started hunting for change in her purse so that they could get back $50 and it took some time for her to find it. In the process, the customer forgot the envelope at the counter.
