Liberal Party needs more than a facelift to return to government
Former New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna's return to Canada is seen as a slam-dunk for his Liberal leadership ambitions. As one high-powered Liberal told me, he will raise one million dollars for McKenna in one hour! Is the party's desire for power so deep that the obvious message emanating from the recent election remains unheard?

Why Indo-Canadians flocked to the federal NDP
Until this campaign, our community tended to vote NDP provincially and Liberal federally. However, there was a pronounced shift to the federal New Democrats. Penny Priddy's victory in Surrey North and the highly competitive race in Newton-North Delta are evidence of that shift.

Will Stephen Harper manage to keep his promises?
British Columbians are probably weary after three elections, federal, provincial and municipal, in the last nine months, but federal politicians will immediately start preparing for the next campaign. There is a great sense of BETRAYAL Canadians across the country have felt in regard to the MAINSTREAM MEDIA and the POLLSTERS - they really messed up by predicting 140 to 170 seats for the Conservatives. Evidently, all along they were wrong.

12 South Asians in the new House of Commons again
All incumbent Indo-Canadian M.P.s - except for Conservative Gurmant Grewal (Newton-North Delta), who was evidently ordered by his party not to run again in view of the damning report that was expected from federal Ethics Commissioner Bernard Shapiro in the taping scandal that brought such a bad name to all Indo-Canadians - were re-elected from B.C., Alberta and Ontario. Replacing Gurmant Grewal was Sukh Dhaliwal from the same riding.

New Democrats and Liberals form the majority of B.C. M.P.s
Wow, it happened much sooner than I had expected - the majority of B.C. M.P.s are New Democrats (10) and Liberals (9). Only 17 M.P.s are Conservatives - almost all from outside the Lower Mainland and the Island.

Canadians delivered a sharp rebuke to Liberals, Conservatives
The way Martin and his supporters took over the Liberal party and the manner in which they behaved with leaders such as Sheila Copps and Herb Dhaliwal put off many decent Canadians. In the end, an arrogant Martin was reduced to a desperate beggar.
