Vancouver Police say 15-year-old Jason Nguyen was murdered

VANCOUVER Police investigators continue to gather evidence, canvass for witnesses, and probe the circumstances surrounding the murder of 15-year-old Jason Nguyen at a house on East 24th Avenue near Rupert Street in East Vancouver on Sunday afternoon.

Shortly before 3 p.m., police and paramedics were called to the home after the teenage victim was found by a family member seriously injured. He was rushed to hospital, but did not survive.

The death was considered suspicious and after a preliminary investigation, detectives with the VPD Major Crime Section have now concluded the death is a homicide.

Though it is still very early in the investigation and there are limited details to share, police do not believe the attack was random. This is Vancouver’s 9th homicide of the year.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section at (604)717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
