Vancouver Police investigating serious downtown assault

VANCOUVER Police are investigating an assault that sent one man to hospital with serious injuries.

Just before 9 p.m. on Saturday (May 5), officers responded to a report of an injured man near Alberni Street and Thurlow Street.

A 30-year-old Vancouver man was found to be seriously injured from an assault that had recently occurred in a nearby building.

The man was rushed by ambulance to hospital where he remains in serious condition. This investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing. No arrests have been made.

Officers will remain in the area to continue gathering evidence and canvassing for witnesses.

This assault is not believed to be random and investigators do not believe the public is at risk. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call investigators at (604) 717-2500.
