The free ride is coming to an end.

The tolls on the new Port Mann Bridge kick in at midnight Friday. But about half a million people who have signed up to put a decal on their cars won’t have to pay for their first 20 trips.

The freebie was an incentive to get people on-board with the TReO program.

If you haven’t got your sticker yet, don’t worry; your licence plate will be scanned for the time being and you’ll still get your discount.

But just because the bridge is finished, that doesn’t mean construction is done. Adding one highway lane each way from Brunette to the Cassiar Tunnel and other improvements will continue well into the new year.
