Three men have been charged after allegedly robbing a jewelry store in Richmond on November 6th.

On November 6th around 6 p.m. Richmond RCMP received a report of a robbery in progress at Ben Moss Jewelers in the Richmond Center Mall.

According to witnesses, two suspects entered the mall, smashed the display cases at Ben Moss & fled with an undisclosed amount of jewelry. Once outside, one of the suspects, armed with a gun, attempted to carjack a vehicle but was unsuccessful. In his attempt to carjack a second vehicle, the suspect was apprehended by bystanders. A scuffle ensued in which the suspect fired a shot. Miraculously, no one was injured. The suspect was held until police arrived at which time he was taken into custody. One of the bystanders was bit by the suspect & received medical treatment. Police have recovered the handgun.

The other two suspects were later located and arrested by officers from the Vancouver Police Department.

29 year old Ty Burgess of Vancouver & 36 year old Shane Buckner of Mission have been charged with armed robbery & wearing a disguise with the intent to commit an indictable offence. 32 year old Keith Macdonald of Coquitlam has also been charged with armed robbery & possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm. All three will be returning to court on November 19th.
