Man killed in targeted shooting in Coquitlam

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to Coquitlam for a Friday night shooting that left one man dead.

On February 16, just after 10 p.m., the Coquitlam RCMP received several calls of shots fired in the area of Sylvan Place and Riverview Crescent and a vehicle speeding away. When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. The male victim was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Shortly after the reports of shots fired, the Coquitlam RCMP was notified of a burning dark colored sedan a short distance away in the area of Mariner Way near Dartmoor Drive. Investigators say they would like to speak with anyone that has information about it.

“It is still early in the investigation but this appears to be a targeted incident,” said IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang. “We need those who have information about this incident to please come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551- IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
