Suspicious death in Richmond: Female charged with 2nd degree murder
The victim in a suspicious death on January 26th has been identified as 61 year old John Alexander. An autopsy was done on Mr. Alexander on January 30th and it was determined that he died as a result of injuries sustained due to head trauma.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been investigating this homicide, with the assistance from Richmond RCMP, and have charged 61 year old Jo Anne Alexander, the wife of John, with Second Degree Murder.
Alexander was arrested on the morning of January 30th, 2012 and brought before the Courts in the afternoon where homicide charges were approved.
She has been remanded and was ordered for further forensic psychiatric evaluation. Her next Court appearance is on February 15th, 2012.
On January 26, 2012 at 1:30pm the Richmond RCMP received a 911 call to attend the 11900 block of Aztec St. The caller was a female claiming to require medical attention.
The Richmond RCMP, BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) and Richmond Fire Department attended the scene and located two individuals, husband and wife, in medical distress.
The male was pronounced deceased at the scene and the women was taken to the hospital to be treated as she was conscious but incoherent.
