BEFORE the bad weather and early darkness of winter is upon us, North Vancouver RCMP are reminding drivers that if they are involved in a fender bender collision they should move their vehicles off the Second Narrows Bridge and onto the shoulder of the highway or a secondary roadway to exchange information.

“Minor accidents, while not the sole cause of traffic congestion on the North Shore, do slow traffic down significantly if they are not cleared immediately,” said Superintendent Chris Kennedy, Officer in Charge of the North Vancouver RCMP, on Thursday. “In addition to helping keep traffic flowing steadily, moving off the bridge deck to exchange information is also safer for the drivers involved.”

Police say drivers should not call 9-1-1 unless there is a serious injury or a vehicle is not drivable off the bridge. Police are not required and, in fact, will not attend the scene of minor accidents.
