A 41-year-old man is in serious condition in hospital after he was bitten by a police dog in North Vancouver. Mounties say the man was tracked after there was a fraud reported at a financial institution.

It happened around 2 p.m. Thursday when officers were called to Lonsdale Avenue. The RCMP says as soon as officers arrived, a man took off, but police lost the suspect.

The RCMP Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Service was called and found a man not far from the financial institution. During the arrest, the man was bit by the dog.
