BC Girls AA and AAA Basketball Tournament updates — Road to the Final 4 is set

 
B.C. AA senior girls B.C. Final Four now set
#1 seed South Kamloops Titans  had an easy time with #8 seed Langley Christian Lightning. Both teams played with passion, but it was The Titans who finished the game 72-59 and will be moving on to the  final 4  winner’s bracket.
#2 seed Britannia Bruins railroaded #10 seed Vernon Panthers to make it to the final 4 winner’s bracket. For almost the entire first half, the Britannia Bruins held a 10-point lead at any given time. At half time, Britannia was up 41-18.
The Panthers gave as much as they could, but were just overpowered by the Bruins who won 56-38.
The #6 seed Duchess Park Condors opened up scoring against # 3 seed GW Graham Grizzlies and by the end of the 1st it was tied 13-13. Just as predicted, both teams hit the court with a purpose, heading into the second half with a score of 30-29. The Grizzles held the lead for most the second half and it was GW Graham that won the game 68-64.
The #5 seed St. Thomas Aquinas Fighting Saints came strong against the #4 seed Okanagan Mission Huskies. This back-forth game showcased two teams who truly wanted a win. St. Thomas Aquinas made it to the final 4 and sent #4 seed Okanagan Mission packing with a final score of 66-56.

Day 2 results for AAA Girls Basketball Championships
 
The first game on the winner’s side of the bracket had the Semiahmoo Totems taking on the Brookswood Bobcats. Although Brookswood worked hard and fought their way to a lead after the first quarter, Semiahmoo were the stonger team today, eventually winning 87-56 and becoming the first team to advance into the Final 4 winner’s bracket on Friday night.
Walnut Grove and Riverside was looking like being a close contest. The Gators started strong to take the lead. But  Riverside would cut the lead to two before the end of the first. Riverside was able to keep it close but after the Gators went on an 11-2 run they were up with an eleven point lead at half time. With a tight defensive stretch in the third which saw no points scored, the fourth quarter had Walnut Grove pull away for good. Walnut Grove took it 96-67, advancing into the Final 4.
The 3rd quarterfinal game of the day in the AAA bracket saw Abbotsford Senior Panthers take on Sullivan Heights Stars. The first 3 quarters were controlled by Abbotsford Senior, at the 7:30 mark of the 3rd period, Abbotsford had a commanding 23-point lead, but a late run from the Stars had the Panthers on their toes.  Abbotsford held on and came out on top with a 55-63 win moving them into the Final 4 winners bracket on Friday night.
Could The Pipers be the Cinderella team of this years AAA tournament? After a dramatic win over Yale the day before, the Argyle Pipers were looking to play spoiler against the Kelowna Owls. Kelowna led for much of the game, and although it was close early, Kelowna eventually took it 85-55.
