Investigators are probing the first murder of 2012 in Surrey. Police discovered an unconscious 41-year-old man lying in the alley behind the 12800-block of 92a Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday. He was taken to hospital and put on life support. He was pronounced dead seven hours later by the authorities.

An IHIT media release says an autopsy will be necessary to determine the cause of death, but the victim, “sustained injuries consistent with a homicide.” The victim’s identity is being withheld until his family is informed.

Investigators were checking the area where the victim was discovered to find witnesses, but a suspect has yet to be arrested.
