Yao Wei Wu, a Vancouver resident is alleged to have been brutally assaulted by two VPD officers at his house on Jan 21, 2010 in a widely-reported case of wrongful identification.

There has been another disappointing development in the case of Yao Wei Wu, the Vancouver resident who was brutally assaulted by two VPD officers at his house on Jan 21, 2010 in a widely-reported case of wrongful identification. In a B.C. Supreme Court ruling last week, Justice Allan Betton quashed the public hearing into the incident, allowing the application of the two officers involved in the assault and ruling against the Police Complaint Commissioner.

In the judgment, Justice Betton pointed out that his decision in no way determined the merits of the ongoing civil case involving Yao Wei Wu, but only whether the Police Complaint Commissioner had the ability to order a public hearing.
