Surrey – The City of Surrey has been named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People, and has been recognized as a national leader in helping college and university students make the transition from school to work.
“One-third of Surrey’s population is under the age of 19, which means we have a built-in workforce. We want to engage our future leaders and give them the opportunity for growth and progression so they can contribute to our city in a meaningful way,” says Mayor Dianne Watts.
The City of Surrey was evaluated on its efforts to attract and retain young people, including partnerships with universities and colleges; opportunities for summer work and coop/work study programs; mentorship and training programs; career management programs; and youth engagement initiatives.
Canada’s Top Employers for Young People competition is organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes Canada’s leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees to their organizations.
