With a goal of reaching 14,000 donations throughout B.C. and Yukon, the Canadian blood services program will start from Dec 1.

The program will be in partnership with Food Banks BC and is asking B.C. residents to donate blood between Dec. 1 and Jan. 2, and bring also in non-perishable food items for local food banks to help remove the hunger of nearly 100,000 people.

Donated food items will be collected throughout December in specially marked Bleed & Feed collection boxes located in the front waiting area of blood donor clinics across the province. Food collected in Surrey will go to the Surrey Food Bank.

The Surrey Blood Donor Clinic at 15285 101st Ave. is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 8: 30 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. and for the same hours on some Saturdays, including Dec. 8 and 22.
