THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is on scene in the 6500-block of 137A Street in Newton where a man was shot dead on Friday night. IHIT investigators and Surrey RCMP officers are canvassing the neighbourhood looking for witnesses.

At approximately 7 p.m. on March 9, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in that area. Police located a man suffering from injuries and he was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police said that initial indications are that this is a targeted / isolated incident and involves parties known to each other.  IHIT currently has conduct of the investigation and is being assisted by units of the Surrey RCMP.
