Abbotsford Police looking for South Asian males who allegedly robbed women in park

ABBOTSFORD Police are looking for two young South Asian males who allegedly robbed two women in Mill Lake Park on Monday night.

Constable Ian MacDonald said that two women went for a walk around Mill Lake Park at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. One woman was in her 80’s and she used a walker / wheelchair for assistance. She and her companion, who is in her 40s, continued around the park for over an hour.  At 8:50 p.m., the women were near the Bevan Avenue parking lot preparing to leave when they were suddenly approached by two young males wearing hoodies and bandanas covering the lower portions of their faces.

The males pointed objects, believed to be handguns, at the women and demanded their valuables.  The suspects took the women’s belongings and ran from the area toward the intersection of Bevan Avenue and Ware Street.  The victims were extremely shaken but managed to contact police.

The suspect descriptions are as follows:

#1 – South Asian male, 5’10” – 6’0” tall, 150 pounds, slim build, 17-20 years of age, wearing dark coloured hoody, dark coloured bandana with white checkered pattern pants.

#2 – South Asian male, 6’0” tall, 160 pounds, slim build, 17-20 years of age, wearing light coloured hoody, dark coloured bandana and pants.
