17-year-old Asian man dies after Friday morning stabbing in Vancouver

A 17-year old Asian man died after an early morning stabbing in Vancouver Friday. It happened at Japan House Restaurant on Kingsway near Slocan. There are no suspects, and no arrests have been made. VPD continue to investigate

The man had been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries at around 1 a.m., but he later died in hospital from his injuries.

Vancouver Police Major Crime Section and the Forensic Identification Unit are working to determine a motive for the attack.

No arrests have been made and police do not have a suspect. The man’s name is not being released at this time.

Meantime, in Surrey, two men were found with stab wounds, also around 1 a.m. Friday, near 154th Street and 100th Ave. One 17-year-old was taken to hospital in serious condition while the other, a 22-year-old man, died at the scene.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team spokesman Sgt. Adam MacIntosh said investigators are looking for the driver of a mid to late 2000 model Honda Civic, silver or grey in colour.

The vehicle will likely have damage to the driver’s door and window, he said. The driver is believed to be between 40 and 50 years of age.
